Financial Services Luncheon
Date: Friday 22 January, 2010
Venue: Hotel Hilton, New York
Description: With its A$1.3 trillion fully-funded pension system, rich commodities, exports and highly skilled and diversified workforce, Australia has emerged as the most resilient developed economy in the world's volatile landscape.
The World Economic Forum assessed Australia as the third best regulator of securities exchanges and the fourth soundest banking system in the world (Source: World Economic Forum, The Global Competiveness Report 2009-09). Highly developed financial markets make Australia one of the major centres of capital markets activity in Asia and Australia's large and mature financial services sector has assets of more than A$4.3 trillion, equivalent to four times GDP.
A recent survey of Australia's Investment and Financial Services Association showed Australian fund managers are rapidly expanding their operations around the globe, particularly in the Asia-Pacific. Australia is recognized for its innovation and sophistication across investment and capital markets, and particularly in managed funds products. As a leader in the Financial Services sector in Asia, Australia is strategically positioned for global organizations.
Join Australia's economic and financial leaders to learn how the country is emerging as a global leader in Financial Services. The program will involve key note speakers, including The Hon. Martin Ferguson MP, Minister for Resources and Energy plus an open question and answer session with panellists from the industry.
