AUSTRALIA'S OUTBACK NORTHERN TERRITORY BENEFIT DINNER
wild about wildlife: saving the wilds of pungalina
WEDNESDAY, 21 JANUARY 2009
STARLIGHT ROOF, WALDORF ASTORIA
Held in partnership with the
Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC), the dinner raised funds for
Pungalina - a property spanning half a million acres of the Northern Territory's spectacular outback. AWC is working with the US based
Wildlife Australia Fund Inc (WAFI) to save Pungalina.
Professor Tim Flannery, internationally acclaimed environmentalist, presented on the night.
Guests experienced an evening of creativity and theatrical flair, along with their support for Australia’s globally significant biodiversity. The evening had elements of fine Australian talent, including acclaimed Indigenous artist and recent ARIA Award winner,
Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, Indigenous contemporary artist Dewayne Everettsmith, the
Australian String Quartet and the Qantas Choirs.
Australian celebrity chef
Pete Evans crafted the menu with fresh produce flown in from Australia and paired with premium Australian wines from Tasmania.
* All ticket sales went directly to WAFI in order to fund Pungalina. WAFI is an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law. For more information or to make a donation toward Pungalina, visit
