In 2008, Australia Week will host “The Road to Renewables” symposium with a focus
on the transition from fossil fuels to renewable technologies. Discussions will include
the need for the development of renewable technologies, what will work in the
real world, identifying barriers to technology deployment and overcoming them to
make the transition, case studies of existing best practice which will feature the
global pace-setters of renewable technologies. These issues will be explored
through the prism of major climate change challenges including: power
generation, urban development, transportation and goods movement, and
emissions trading.
