A prestigious audience of approximately 1200, which includes a variety of prominent film and business executives, senior Australian officials, American film and television industry representatives, producers, directors, actors and many American-based Australian actors. 

This event receives the greatest amount of media coverage and serves as the publicity anchor of Australia Week. The Black Tie Gala Dinner honours high profile individuals for significant contributions in their industries and for excellence in promoting Australia in the United States. An Australian style dinner is overseen by an Australian celebrity chef and all of the food products and produce are flown in from Australia for this glamorous occasion. Honourees for 2009 are currently being nominated and pursued and have not yet been announced.

Previous Honourees have been: Cate Blanchett, Baz Luhrmann, Anthony LaPaglia, Mel Gibson, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Olivia Newton John, Hugh Jackman, INXS, Kylie Minogue and Phillip Noyce.  This event draws enormous media coverage in both the United States and in Australia.
