Australia is the world's largest producer of wool – and over 80% of the world's apparel wool comes from the Golden Fleece off the back of Australian Merino sheep. Today there is no finer feeling than Merino next to your skin.
Australian fashion reflects a vibrant, creative nation, rich in colour and fresh, exuberant style. The three main settings of Australian life—the bush, the cities and the beaches—and the country's principally hot and dry climate have influenced who Australians are and therefore what they wear. Australian fashion labels are now sought after around the world.
The Woolmark Company and Australians In New York Fashion Foundation are pleased to bring the best of Australian Merino wool and Australian Fashion will blend with THE AUSTRALIAN FIVE – five designers working innovatively with the highest quality Merino wool will be on show in NYC.

Since the brand's launch, Magdalena Velevska has continued to walk a skilled line between directional, beautiful garments and functionality. Magdalena Velevska has developed repute for precisely tailored monochromatic pieces with an intelligent edge, almost always cut from silks, linens and natural fibres. The brand's tailored structural blazers, simple urban dresses and androgynous trousers are of a cult like level.
Prior to the establishment of her eponymous label in 2009, Magdalena worked in the shadows for Australian brands such as Akira Isogawa, Pablo Nevada, Nicola Finetti and Lisa Ho, where she was senior head designer. This varied experience shaped Magdalena's approach to fashion and based on the strength of her knowledge she made the decision to independently show her aesthetic to the world.
Magdalena Velevska was launched in Spring/Summer 09/10 at Rosemount Fashion Week.
Michael Lo Sordo graduated from the prestigious Fashion Design Studio in East Sydney in 2005. It was here that his flair for combining colour and sensuality was first fostered and developed.
In 2006, Michael was presented with the Young Designer of the Year Award at Sydney's Propeller Fashion Show. Following this, he was selected as one of six designers to take part in 'The Graduate Store' project located in Sydney's The Strand Arcade. The development of the Michael Lo Sordo label was made possible through industry recognition of his potential as one of Australia's most promising young designers.
Lo Sordo was very privileged to be given the opportunity to work with Giorgio Armani in 2007. This enlightening experience enabled Michael to grow and develop both his creative and business pathways under the mentorship of a fashion industry icon.
In 2008, Michael was selected to take part in a Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, presenting in a group show alongside a selection of talented young designers. His successful debut collection garnered significant interest from both the media and stockists alike. In the lead up to this event, he had the honour of being named the 'face to watch' by Harper's Bazaar magazine.
After a number of successful shows resulting in great publicity and a celebrity following (including dressing Dannii Minogue) in 2011 Michael continues to receive much acclaim.
